Chay Newman

founder/editor-in-chief

Chay Newman is currently studying their Master of Writing and Editing at RMIT Univeristy, interning at the Bowen Street Press and editing fiction for Voiceworks. Their work has appeared in publications including The Infinite Blues Reviews, Catalyst, the Australian Film Institute Research Collection, Vermillion Lit, and elsewhere. When not in the trenches of their own existentialism, they can be found making up words like ‘illucid,’ ‘gospelic,’ and ‘transienity,’ while overusing commas because it feels more ‘poetic.’

Cyanica was born from a love of pretty words and a deep belief in the power of collective access, care, and creative freedom. Chay hopes to build a space where disabled artists can take up space, experiment wildly, and be heard in all their complexity, without compromise.
